Student Panel Discussion “European Democracy and Challenges of Populism” Held at the National University of Ostroh Academy

On March 25, 2026, the National University of Ostroh Academy hosted a student panel discussion titled “European Democracy and Challenges of Populism.”

Participants discussed the nature of populism and its main manifestations, as well as the historical aspects of its emergence and development. Particular attention was given to the spread of populism in the European Union and the threats it poses to European democracies.

An important topic of the discussion was the impact of European populism on support for Ukraine. Students examined how the rise of populist political forces may affect the positions of individual states and the EU as a whole regarding Ukraine.

The event gave students an opportunity not only to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing modern democracies, but also to practice their public speaking, argumentation, and debating skills in English.
