This collective monograph consists of eleven chapters. The authors, each from their own perspective, seek to understand the sources and manifestations of Ukrainophobia in modern Russia. In particular, they seek answers to the questions of why Putin’s regime is so obsessed with an “anti-Ukrainian” project and what led to a war against the Ukrainian people that amounts to genocide. The Russian propaganda’s claim that Russia is at war with NATO and the West on Ukrainian territory is merely a “smokescreen” for the true intentions of the Russian regime, which seeks to destroy Ukraine as a state and Ukrainian national identity in the name of chauvinistic imperialism and a distorted historical narrative.
