On July 29, 2025, a workshop titled “Main Policies of the European Union” was held, focusing on the main areas of European Union policy. The event was organized for representatives of local self-government bodies of the Rivne Oblast. The training was led by Vitalii Lebediuk. Special attention was given to the EU’s European integration course and to how the Union’s policies affect countries aspiring to membership.
During the session, the speaker covered the following key areas:
- Common Agricultural Policy (CAP): support for farmers, market stabilization, and food security.
- EU Security and International Policy: foreign policy and security instruments, and the Union’s role in the world.
- Regional (Cohesion) Policy: reducing economic and social disparities between EU regions.
- Social Policy: protection of workers’ rights, occupational safety, equal opportunities, and social dialogue.
- Energy Policy and the Green Deal: the transition to renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and the fight against climate change.
- Research and Innovation: the Horizon Europe programme and EU space policy.
The workshop helped participants, including representatives of local authorities, to better understand how the European Union functions, what values underpin its policies, and what gradual alignment with European standards means in each of these areas.
