On November 10, 2023, Dmytro Shevchuk and Vitalii Lebediuk took part in the conference “The impact of the crisis related to the war in Ukraine on Poland and the European Union”, which was organized by the The Jacob of Paradies University in Poland.
Dmytro Shevchuk presented the report “Solidarity of nations: Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in dark times”. His report was devoted to the problem of understanding Polish-Ukrainian relations through the prism of the idea of political friendship and solidarity between peoples. Dmytro Shevchuk stated that the idea of solidarity is the basis of politics. Above all, it is going on in politics guided by moral principles, not only by interests and achieving a goal at all costs. The basis of a good political community is shared responsibility, when everyone is responsible for everyone. Solidarity can be defined as mutual support, shared responsibility, and unanimity.
Vitalii Lebediuk’s talk focused on changes in political competition during martial law in Ukraine, particularly changes in political dynamics and their potential implications for the post-war political landscape. Using the results of public opinion polls, parliamentary voting results, and analysis of current events, it was possible to gain a deeper understanding of the extent of changes in political competition and their impact on the future configuration of the party system. The results of the presented study emphasize the importance of a well-thought-out action plan for restoring the electoral process in post-war Ukraine, taking into account the challenges associated with the current electoral system and regional differences in voter turnout. The need for intensive support for Ukraine’s military efforts is the main means of ensuring a quick return to a democratic electoral process.
